Prime Property Investors, LTD, a Northbrook, IL-based multi-family property investment firm, acquired Clover Ridge Apartments in South Bend from West Springfield, MA-based Nepsa Property Investors, Inc. for $10.25 million or about $104,592 per unit. Clover Ridge Apartments at 1801 Irish Way, is a two-story, 55,316-square-foot, fully occupied student housing complex constructed in 1970. It is within blocks of the main campus of the University of Notre Dame. The buyer was represented in-house by Barbara J. Gaffen and Michael H. Zaransky. The seller was also self-represented. West Seattle groundbreaking
I mention this because it's a big project for the area, including 186 apartments above a Whole Foods Market and Hancock Fabrics, and because they sent me a rendering. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2010.
The celebration is set to start at 5:30 p.m., with the groundbreaking ceremony at 6 p.m., at 3922 S.W. Alaska St.

A 90-year-old man in poor health and his 59-year-old wife were found dead of gunshot wounds in their Union City apartment, police said Tuesday.
Investigators said the case "appears to be either a double suicide or a murder-suicide."
Officers were contacted Monday by a neighbor concerned that the couple had not been seen or heard from in days. A maintenance man found the bodies at 7:05 p.m.
A handgun was found in the couple's home at the Mission Gateway Apartments. A preliminary investigation showed that the gun had been fired "by one or both of the deceased," and that the couple had been dead for a day or two before being found, police said.
