Motorcycle crash critically injures Bend man
A 49-year-old Bend man whose motorcycle left Alfalfa Market Road on a curve and sideswiped a large juniper tree was in critical condition Friday at St. Charles Medical Center-Bend.
Deschutes County sheriff's deputies responded to the crash around 7:30 p.m. Thursday on Alfalfa Market Road east of Stenkamp Road, Lt. Shane Nelson said.
Bend fire paramedics took Troy Allen Cox to the hospital.
An initial investigation found Cox's black 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was eastbound on Alfalfa Market Road when he failed to negotiate a sharp left-hand curve and left the road on the eastbound shoulder, Nelson said.
The motorcycle traveled off road on the shoulder area before sideswiping the large juniper tree. Cox was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest a short distance away, Nelson said. more
VA Clinic Planned For Rosenberg-Richmond Area
Fort Bend County veteran Joseph Martinez said having a clinic nearer his home will make getting health care easier, not to mention less expensive.“I've been driving to the VA Hospital in Houston and with $4 a gallon gas, that costs money I really don't have right now," Martinez said. “This will make it a lot easier and should reduce the waiting time (to see a doctor). This is really good news; there's a lot of veterans here that will benefit." . more
