Scranton Officers Walking the Beat Again
Police officer Jill Foley spent her day Tuesday walking some of the small streets of the city's west side.
She found a pick-up truck parked on Aswell Court without one front wheel. About a block away a Dodge Neon had an expired registration sticker.
Targeting abandoned vehicles and rundown properties are the two main objectives of the officers who are once again walking the beat in certain Scranton neighborhoods.
"We are focusing on our mission, which is blighted properties and abandoned vehicles, but any crime we see along the way we're certainly going to enforce," said Scranton Police Lieutenant Dan Duffy.
He is coordinating the new foot patrols. He's also one of the officers walking a beat.

Fox River Has Crested in Princeton
"Absolutely amazing," says Jill Hogan, who's visiting from Milwaukee. "Your mouth just drop open, you can't believe it. You would never imagine that river being this high. Never."
The County says the river here, has crested, but many people are still trying to dry out.
Highway 23 remains shut down Saturday, and other neighborhoods in low lying areas, require a kayak to get through.
"I just kind of look around, and it's just amazing how much water is around, and water damage," says Jim Miller of Madison. "If you look at the buildings around here, it's just you got to feel sorry for them knowing water is probably up to the first floor rafters. How your going to come back from that is very hard thing, I'm sure."
For many the last few days, waiting for the river to crest have been exhausting. more
Reflections by Jill - A Weekly Commentary for OLTL for June 10, 2008
I dont even know where to begin this week. The tragedy of losing Nash and the way it happened were just too awful. If this isnt the perfect example of the fact that keeping secrets can come back to haunt you and have horrible repercussions, then I dont know what is. To say that Jared is responsible for everything because he faked his way into being a Buchanan would not be totally unfair. I have plenty to say about Jared and his responsibility. However, I cannot get away from the fact that Dorian always seems to find a way to get her revenge on those she feels have crossed or hurt her and each time she finds a way that is more heinous than the time before. This time, her desire to get revenge has caused unbearable pain for people who in no way deserve to even pop up on her radar. Im sorry that the show chose to put Nash in a position where he seemed so naive that he would enter into a business deal that was so suspicious. more
