I have a very close friend who’s 25. She spends money all the time, she takes vacations every 3 months to various cities allover the world, she always has the best outfit when we go out because she spends a lot on it, she has done laser hair removal on her legs, basically spends boat loads of money eating out or social events. She is in $30,000 in debt, she still lives with her parents, but she makes good money to offset the extravagant lifestyle. Matter in fact, she bought a Toyota sedan in 2003, and its still not paid off, its 2009 (she still owes a lot of $$ on it). I feel like her priorities are weird but I don’t judge her because she is my friend and seems to be so much cooler than me, she traveled a lot, she goes out all the time (very social), she looks great by her beauty treatments and the outfits. I, on the other hand, was in about $25,000 in debt when I was 21, and it took 4 years to pay all of it off and I’m now DEBT FREE, (I owe nothing to anyone) but in those 4 years, I had a budget, I stuck by it. I am not cool. I didn’t travel, I didn’t go back to school get my masters, I didn’t vacation, I didn’t do any beauty treatments like laser for my legs or lasik for my eyes. Basically I put my dreams on hold. I never really looked the prettiest hot babe or had the best outfit during our outings. I did treat myself to some small splurges and small cheap vacation once a yr but why do I feel like Im missing out in life? Hello, I have two Hypertrophic scars they are about 8 months old and I have been using silicon gel sheets as treatment for them for about 4-5 months now. they are not really improving much, maybe slightly flatter but that may be my imagination too. they are dark red, about 5mm by 55mm and are slightly raised. they are surgery scars after an accident. before the silicon sheet i used an oil, which had the same ingradients as bio oil but cheaper and that did not really seem to work either but did help take some of the itching away. i was interested in other treatments such as laser, scar revision and microdermabrasion. I have spoke to my doctor about it but he says because it is not on my face, the best thing i should do it just forget about it but it is causing me a lot of upset because they are on my thighs and i feel i cannot wear certain things. i have been researching these options myself but i am finding it hard to pick which is the right one because they all claim to be good. i have been told by my doctor that scar revision surgery is pointless for me because it will just replace the old scar with a new one. i would like some advice from people who had had revision surgery for Hypertrophic or Keloid scars or know of someone who has as to which method worked for them and which how big their scars were and how long it took to get better. also some information on prices would be good. i am from the UK by the way. look forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance more

Okay i need to decide which of two laser hair removal clinics to have treatment done. 1st one: Only costs 40 dollars per treatment They just moved to a kinda dodgy suburb and have no signs up or anything after a month of being there There only seemed to be two people when i went in and no reception (the reception is next door at the doctors clinic) The test patch she did didnt hurt at all and i think its meant to hurt for it to work? 2nd place: They are in a good suburb They cost 60 dollars per treatment so more expensive They have good reviews Please helppp. I dont know wether to risk it with the cheaper place cause it may not even work. have thinning hair, particularly in the front. It's been gradually thinning for years (since I was around 20). I had laser treatments, which were mildly effective, but I could not afford to continue them. I don't like Rogaine because if you stop using it, the new hair falls out. Upon the recommendation of a hair transplant center, I went to my gynocologist for a hormone test; she told me that I had higher androgen levels and insulin resistance (which I understand is also called Metabolic Syndrome). This may be one reason that my hair is thinning, but I am not qualified to really speculate. It seems like it could be anything genetic. My sister told me about a treatment that she saw on a home shopping channel. The treatment is called Ojan, and the kit comprises of hair shampoo, conditioner, a leave-in treatment and a serum that needs to be applied weekly. The cost is pretty high, but I am considering getting it because it would be cheaper than the laser treatments. My questions are these: (1) Has anyone tried the Ojan kit that I am referring to? If so, was it helpful? Did your hair thicken up? Secondly, what other treatments are available that would not be cost-prohibitive? If I had the money, I would have continued the laser treatments, but even they seemed to take a long time. ALSO, my hair used to be really thick and lustrous when I was in my twenties. It was shiney and bouncy. Now that I am in my thirties (35), it has gotten brittle and dull. It doesn't have the bounce that it used to have..it's coarser. I don't blow dry it often, and I condition it. But I don't like putting a lot of product on it because it makes it feel tacky and a different texture. Please give me advise on what I can do, if anything, to reverse this. . more

I have acne scars on my upper arms and on my back. I know you're not supposed to pick pimples, however, I found that when I'm depressed, that's when I pick them. My doctor offers Profractional. I know how this works, by treating only part of the skin while leaving the rest untreated to speed up the healing time. I am 29 now. When I was younger I had an accident with an at home product that burned my skin and made it continuously react badly. I have acne like skin problems. It stays sore, burning feeling, and I have never had the money to pay for laser surgery to fix it. It covers my entire arm..both of them and my chest. I was told that a very simple laser/acne treatment would probably clear it up and that a laser hair removal treatment would take care of the damaging effects of the chemical burn also. I have looked into places that accreditted to find the one that is the cheapest without compromising the quality of services and professionalism. Perfumes Plus in St. John, N.B. is close to where i live at the moment, but the acne treatment alone for one treatment is $80 dollars orset of six for $450. The laser treatment alone is minimum of $2990. I am wondering if medicare covers this type of skin problem due to chemical burn. Something must be done because this problem is painful. more

So, I made the big mistake of going to a really sketchy place for laser hair removal because it was so much cheaper then everywhere else. Well, it ended up costing me in the long run. Over 10 treatments later, it still grows back, much thinner and sparser mind you, but none the less it keeps growing back. I've been looking into going to American Laser Centers because a friend of mine recommended it. After my consultation I was offered a bunch of different promotions , 100 off, 300 off, then 200 off the package, which they told me would normally cost someone $5,000. But they'd do it for me for 2000, then I got em down to 1500, final offer from them . I don't know whether to do through with it. I can't tell if this place is sketchy or if I'm getting a great deal. What do you think? Has anyone gone there? Gotten laser somewhere else that's better? Is this price really good or not? more

I'm a 17 yo girl. I have dark stubbly upper lip from shaving a year ago, since then i continued the shaving about once a week,i want to do laser hair removal i had my first treatment 3 weeks ago but the hair never fell out?? this isn't the only place i have ugly excess hair, i have dark hair on my stomach & chest & the hairs around each of my nipples appear darker & thicker from shaving & plucking i feel so unwomenly & its so annoying! I got my facial done on my face. it was painfull. the doctor only did about a half hour. he dident even get 1 session done. quality was yak yak yak. but they do seem to be really nice. the cheap for rates enywhere. my opion on what they could have done better. is get the full session done. you need about 7 treatments. I dident even get a one full treatment. I have oily, acne prone skin and was wondering if anybody knew about the laser treatments for skin in Taiwan. Effective or disastrous? I know that they are cheaper than in the U.S. but if I have a referal for a (pricey) dermatologist here, should that trump the risk of unknown medical personnel and procedures there, albeit cheaper cost? more

I still have few treatments left. I paid in advance and I was to receive 6 treatments of laser hair removal on entire face and underarms, and also 5 treatments of pixel. I have only received 2 laser hair and 3 pixel treatments when I got a message this morning saying that they canceled the rest of my appointments through May 2008. I went there yesterday morning and the sign says they are CLOSED for reorganization. Who knows if they'll ever open again. These treatments are NOT cheap. On the voicemail, there was no mention of rescheduling, or even partial refund. more
