Malaysia Airlines Forced into New Round of cost Cutting
We will continue to treat it as an option," he said.
The total cost of the 55 aircraft is 4.2 billion dollars at list prices.
Malaysia Airlines posted an all-time record profit of 851 million ringgit for the 2007 financial year, ending a series of disastrous losses.
The Airline hopes to bounce back from 2007 to achieve record profits under its recovery plan.
In May the airline announced that its profits in the first quarter slipped 9.8 percent from a year earlier to 120 million ringgit (S$51 million).
The carrier hopes to post between 400 to 1.0 billion ringgit profit this year.
Draw opens up for imperious Federer
It did not help Soderling's cause that he was playing with a large blister on his left foot, for which he received treatment during the second set, but he made far too many mistakes to trouble the top seed. With Novak Djokovic removed from Federer's side of the draw, having fallen to Marat Safin, the world No 1 looks to have an increasingly easy ride through to the final.Federer noted: "I'm happy with the way I played. I'm moving well. The performance was excellent today."Soderling had given Rafael Nadal a few problems last year in an epic rain-affected match but he had not beaten Federer in six previous meetings. In fact, he had only once taken a set off the Swiss. He never looked like doing so during a second round match in which Federer's serving was consistently destructive.Former champion Lleyton Hewitt vowed to play through the pain barrier as he remained on course for a fourth-round clash with Federer.Hewitt, winner in 2002, brushed aside Spain's Albert Montanes 7-6 (7-4), 6-0, 6-2 in the second round on Court Two, surviving the so-called 'Graveyard of Champions'.Hewitt, who has been battling a hip injury, revealed on Monday he would probably not have played on with his injury at any other tournament, but insisted he could complete a possible seven matches to lift the trophy again. more
Amnesty Brings Gitmo Cell to US
"It's very sad that the media and the government is treating torture as a joke," Tizon said. "Waterboarding is not a dunk in the water, and it's not a frat hazing." Tizon, now a staffer with the human-rights group Torture Abolition and Survivors Support Coalition International, is scheduled to speak Wednesday evening at an Amnesty rally on the Mall. Last week, the Senate Armed Services Committee released formerly classified memoranda detailing how Bush administration officials transformed programs that train U.S. Special Forces to resist torture into a regimen for torturing terrorism detainees at places like Guantanamo Bay. Today, a coalition of religious groups, military officers and former officials from the Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton and Bush II administrations issued a letter urging the next president to ban all interrogation methods not consistent with the Geneva Conventions-complaint Army Field Manual on Interrogation and ensure due-process rights for terrorism detainees in U.S. more
