New film explores the ticks of Lyme disease
The stories of chronic Lyme disease patients and the physicians treating them make up "Under Our Skin," which is showing this week at the SILVERDOCS Film Festival in Silver Spring, Md.
"Under Our Skin" is an exploration of the disease that affects more than 20,000 people in the U.S. each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Filmmaker Andy Abrahams Wilson says the disease is misunderstood, misdiagnosed and under-reported. He didn't think it was a big deal until his twin sister became seriously ill.
When Dr. Sarah Fletcher, a family doctor in Sterling, Va., tells her patients with Lyme disease that she knows how they feel. She is not just being sympathetic. She was ill with the disease about four years. She hosts a Lyme disease group that meets on the second Tuesday of every month. more
Six kids fall ill after gas leak
The affected children were rushed to a local health centre and released after treatment. A portion of a house also collapsed under the impact of the mini explosion that burst the pipeline. Panic-stricken residents informed the police and the fire brigade. But even before they could swing into action, the leakage was repaired by the workers. Police have started an inquiry. . more

"Fortunately, depression responds very well to early intervention and treatment," SAMHSA Administrator Terry Cline said in a statement.
"Parents concerned about their child's mental health should seek help with the same urgency as with any other medical condition. Appropriate mental health care can help their child recover and thrive."
