Students Build Model Cars for Summer Program

They are introduced to computer basics, computer-assisted design, drafting and manufacturing, fabrication, metal-shearing and assembly processes, and have the opportunity to talk with manufacturing practitioners. The students also receive up-close looks and demonstrations of the colleges instructional programs in welding, machining, drafting, material science, auto-motive technology, electrical technology, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning. In addition to the challenge of actually creating a product, the campers will also learn about the skills they need for a career, the type of training they should acquire, and salary expectations. Campers will also receive a Steel My Summer T-shirt. Looking back at last years camp, which was the first time the event was held, Dawson said it was definitely a success and recalls a story one of the students parents told her. more

Legal basics for teachers: the new codes for admissions and appeals

There have been important changes to the law on school admissions. In addition to the Education and Inspections Act 2006 (and related regulations), there is a new school admissions code, issued in February 2007 and a new appeals code, effective from January 2008. It is important for all schools to be aware of these changes — especially schools that are their own admission authority, such as voluntary aided and foundation schools, and academies. This article will highlight the main changes in the law and guidance on school admissions. New codes are mandatory All individuals and bodies dealing with school admissions 'must act in accordance with' the new codes' mandatory provisions. They are no longer 'codes of practice' — their new status allows them to impose mandatory requirements, not just to recommend good practice. more

When I used to program in Foxpro I would enter something like this: select 1 use customers alias customers set index to cname aname=Space(30) BNAME=SPACE(30) @ 1,1 say "Name:" get aname read if aname = space(30) RETURN ENDIF SEEK(TRIM) ANAME @ 3,1 SAY "NAME;" + ANAME -OR- DEFINE POPUP GETNAME FROM 1,2 PROMPT FIELDS NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE FOR NAME= ANAME ON SELECTION POPUP GETNAME, RELEASE POPUP GETNAME STORE NAME TO BNAME CLEAR @ 3,1 SAY "CUSTOMER NAME:" + BNAME I cannot remember if these commands are 100% accurate, but I want to find records based on the data I enter into a textbox or other suggestion method. I need a good tutorial on working with tables and such.  more
